5月15日，亚洲文明对话大会在北京国家会议中心开幕，国家主席习近平出席开幕式并发表主旨演讲。

　　1.“人类只有肤色语言之别，文明只有姹紫嫣红之别，但绝无高低优劣之分。”

　　【英文】Civilizations are as different from each other as human beings are in terms of skin color and language. No civilization is superior over others.

　　【出处】明·汤显祖《牡丹亭·惊梦》：“原来姹紫嫣红开遍；似这般都付与断井颓垣。”

　　【释义】指各种颜色娇艳的花朵。

　　2.“坚持美人之美、美美与共。每一种文明都是美的结晶，都彰显着创造之美。”

　　【英文】We need to uphold the beauty of each civilization and the diversity of civilizations in the 　world. Each civilization is the crystallization of human creation and each is beautiful in its own way.

　　【出处】出自费孝通先生总结的处理不同文化关系的"十六字箴言"。原文：各美其美，美人之美，美美与共，天下大同。

　　【释义】每种文明都有其独特的魅力，我们应当尊重不同的文明，各种文明相互交流，共同繁荣发展。

　　3.“我们既要让本国文明充满勃勃生机，又要为他国文明发展创造条件，让世界文明百花园群芳竞艳。”

　　【英文】We should leave various civilizations in the world all in full blossom.

　　【出处】明·赵弼《青城隐者记》:“时值仲春,群芳竞艳,百卉争妍。” 

　　【释义】各种美丽、芳香的花草在比美斗妍。

　　4.“文明永续发展，既需要薪火相传、代代守护，更需要顺时应势、推陈出新。”

　　【英文】For civilization to endure efforts must be made to keep it alive and build on its heritage from one generation to the next. More importantly a civilization needs to adapt itself to the changing times and break new ground.

　　【出处】薪火相传出自《庄子.养生主》：“指穷于为薪，火传也，不知其尽也。”推陈出新出自宋·费衮《梁溪漫志·张文潜粥记》引东坡帖：“吴子野劝食白粥，云能推陈致新，利膈养胃。”

　　【释义】薪火相传比喻学问和技艺代代相传。推陈出新指对旧的文化进行批判地继承，剔除其糟粕，吸取其精华，创造出新的文化。

　　5.“从历史上的佛教东传、‘伊儒会通’，到近代以来的‘西学东渐’、新文化运动、马克思主义和社会主义思想传入中国，再到改革开放以来全方位对外开放，中华文明始终在兼收并蓄中历久弥新。”

　　【英文】The Chinese civilization has been enriched by the introduction of Buddhism and the confluence of Islam and Confucianism in the old days and by the introduction of Western learning the launch of the new culture movement and the introduction of Marxism and socialism in modern times. All around opening-up of the country starting with the reform and opening-up program has added to its vitality today.

　　【出处】唐•韩愈《进学解》：玉札丹砂，赤箭青芝，牛溲马勃，败鼓之皮，俱收并蓄，待用无遗者，医师之良也。

　　【释义】不管来源和性质如何，一概收容积蓄。形容博采众议，把各种不同的东西收罗、包含在内。

　　6. “亲仁善邻、协和万邦是中华文明一贯的处世之道。”

　　【英文】Seeking goodwill with neighbors and harmony with all nations is the Chinese way of engaging with the world.

　　【出处】亲仁善邻出自《左传·隐公六年》：“亲仁善邻，国之宝也，君其许郑。” 协和万邦出自《尚书·尧典》：“克明俊德，以亲九族；九族既睦，平章百姓；百姓昭明，协和万邦。”

　　【释义】与仁者亲近，与邻邦友善，与不同邦族和谐往来。“协和万邦”引申到今天，就是协调不同国家之间的关系，让各个国家都能够相互尊重、相互合作、共同发展。

　　7.“革故鼎新、与时俱进是中华文明永恒的精神气质。”

　　【英文】Keeping reforming and innovating, and advancing with the times are the unchanged spirit of Chinese civilization.

　　【出处】革故鼎新出自《易·鼎·杂卦》：“革去故，而鼎取新。” 与时俱进出自《易·乾》：“濳龙勿用，阳气濳藏，见龙在田，天下文明，终日干干，与时偕行。”

　　【释义】革除旧弊，建立新制，随着时代的发展而不断发展、前进。

　　8.“道法自然、天人合一是中华文明内在的生存理念。”

　　【英文】Following the rules of nature and uniting human and universe are the philosophy of existence for Chinese civilization.

　　【出处】道法自然出自《道德经·章二十五》：“人法地，地法天，天法道，道法自然。” 天人合一出自《庄子·山木》：“何谓人与天一邪？”仲尼曰：“有人，天也；有天，亦天也。人之不能有天，性也，圣人晏然体逝而终矣！”

　　【释义】道法自然指天与人的关系紧密相联，不可分割，强调天道与人道、自然与人为的相通和统一。天人合一是中国哲学中关于天人关系的一种观念，以天地万物为一体。

　　9.“我们应该用创新增添文明发展动力、激活文明进步的源头活水，不断创造出跨越时空、富有永恒魅力的文明成果。”

　　【英文】We need to come up with new ideas to add impetus and inspiration to the development of our civilizations. With these efforts, we will deliver achievements for our civilizations to transcend time and space and have a lasting appeal.

　　【出处】宋·朱熹《观书有感》诗:“问渠哪得清如许，谓有源头活水来。”

　　【释义】比喻读书越多，道理越明。现也指事物发展的动力和源泉。
